Overcoming the Challenges of Online Learning

The advent of COVID has upended virtually every aspect of society — the way we work, interact, recreate and learn. For young children, it can be an especially confusing time as many are pulled from the traditional classroom environment and into an online one, a transition that can prove to be daunting.

Limitless Learning understands the learning difficulties facing many young students during these challenging times and we seek to help bridge the gap, through our virtual homeschooling and tutoring programs to keep them on track and ready to advance their educational journeys.

Some of the most common problems online learning can present:

  • Adaptability: The leap from traditional classroom to computer-based learning is a very different experience. They may be resistant to change and the methods of computer-based education.

  • Technical limitations: Many students are not provided with the high bandwidth or the strong Internet connection that online courses require, and thus fail to catch up with their virtual classmates. Some don’t even own computers and need to find outside sources to help with technical assistance.

  • Computer Literacy: Many students lack basic computer skills and cannot operate such programs as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and therefore are not able to handle their files. In addition, many students find fixing basic computer problems a difficult task, as they have no knowledge in this area.

  • Time Management: Time management is a difficult task for many students, as online courses require a lot of time and intensive work.

  • Self-Motivation: E-learning requires the motivation to follow the new educational trends, to keep up with assignments, and be proactive in attendance and participation. Some students don’t have the discipline to self-motivate, which can lead to poor academic performance.

At Limitless Learning, we believe learning is optimal when it takes place in an environment enriched with support, encouragement and assistance. We seek to provide that such that each student can excel in the online learning world and develop the skills necessary for achievement and academic progress.
